Lockout Tagout (LOTO)
Maintenance definition:
A safety procedure used in industry and research settings to ensure that dangerous machines are properly shut off and not started up again prior to the completion of maintenance or repair work. It requires that hazardous energy sources be "locked out" and tagged with a "tagout" device indicating that the equipment cannot be operated until the lockout device is removed. LOTO is critical for preventing accidents and ensuring the safety of maintenance personnel.
